The Village of Scrofiano

A Thousand Years of History in the Heart of Tuscany

Scrofiano is a small medieval village in the province of Siena, with origins dating back more than a thousand years. Perched on a hill in the Val di Chiana Senese, it still preserves much of its historic character, with narrow streets, stone buildings and picturesque views that reflect the authentic spirit of Tuscany. From the 12th century onward, the village was closely linked to the powerful Cacciaconti family and later became part of the Republic of Siena, playing a role in several important events that shaped the history of the region. In the centuries that followed, Scrofiano experienced the conflicts between Siena and Florence before coming under Medici rule during the 16th century.

Walking through the historic centre means stepping into an atmosphere that has remained remarkably unchanged, surrounded by medieval landmarks, historic architecture and panoramic views over the Tuscan countryside.

A unique setting that makes a stay at TuscanFlat Castle even more authentic and deeply connected to the history of the region.
